Taiwan Hill Partridge

A species of bird in the Phasianidae family is the Taiwan partridge or Taiwan hill partridge (Arborophila crudigularis).

Taiwan Hill Partridge

The Taiwan partridge is the only hill partridge in Taiwan. It is a diagnostic black-and-white facial pattern, unlikely to be confused with any other native bird. The facial marks of females are significantly lower than those of males. It lives in hills and valleys in broadleaf and mixed forests, where it silently forages in the leaf litter. It gives clear, tremulous echoes of music, generally early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Generally shy, but approachable where habituated at feeders.
